GROUP BASIC OBEDIENCE
Classes are limited to just six dogs to ensure that each student gets the personal attention they deserve. This class will teach you the best methods to train your dog to: sit, down, come (we spend a lot of time on this important one), stay, walk nicely on leash and leave it (a very useful command) in addition to weekly leadership steps like sit and stay for your food. We also teach polite doggie manners like "off" and "sit and stay at the door." The class is six weeks long.

GROWL CLASS (Classes held during summer months only)
Dogs that have a history of aggression with other dogs, delivery people or visitors to your home are examples of dogs that should benefit from a growl class. Growl classes are intended to give both owner and dog real life experiences in a highly controlled class setting. You will learn methods to manage your dog while working to modify his reactivity. Your dog will learn valuable skills to help him cope with stimuli that have historically caused him to aggress.
Prerequisite:
In-depth evaluation is required before acceptance in the ACA growl classes. Most owner/dog teams have attended private sessions to learn the necessary basic skills for the class. Class cost is $200 for the four week course (Limit four Dogs).

Please call for availability of appointment times.

TRICK TRAINING
So you have a well-behaved dog but want to go further with the fun? Trick training classes are just the ticket. Have fun training your dog to roll over, play dead, jump through your arms or weave between your legs as you walk. How about training your dog to balance a treat on his nose until you give the cue to catch it in his mouth? The possibilities are endless! Think of this as agility without the fancy equipment!
Instructor - Julie Winkelman, CPDT, CDT.
Three-class package for $120.
BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION CLASSES
Difficult issues such as separation anxiety*, incomplete socialization or fearful behavior require special training. Julie Winkelman, CPDT, CDT, and Toleda Cluff, CPDT have the education and skill needed to help you make a positive impact in your dog's well-being. Seemingly minor issues can also combine to drive you to distraction. Do you have an older dog that needs housetraining? An adult dog that will not come when called? Does your dog jump all over you when you return home? Maybe your dog is a "counter surfer" or pulls on leash. ACA can help you resolve these and many more training issues with positive, constructive behavior modification training.
Instructors - Julie Winkelman, CPDT, CDT or Toleda Cluff, CPDT.
Private Behavior Modification is - $50 for the first visit, $40 per visit thereafter.
*Private Behavior Modification for separation anxiety requires an initial consultation which lasts from an hour and a half to two hours. The consultation, protocol and follow-up visit are $200. On-going training is packaged according to need.
AGGRESSION TRAINING
Behavior Modification of aggressive behaviors is a complicated process. Very few dog trainers are willing to work with these issues, even fewer are qualified to do so. Julie Winkelman, CPDT, CDT has 12 years of experience with aggression of all types and uses an approach that combines diet evaluation, management techniques, training specific behavior skills, dietary supplements, the use of training devices and most of all, counter-conditioning and desensitization. After an initial consultation, Julie creates a training protocol specific to your dogs issues. There are 4 levels of aggression cases with an accompanying difference in cost for training. Please call so that we can discuss the specifics of your situation. The consultation, protocol and follow-up visit fees vary according to the severity of the aggression case. On-going training is packaged according to need. You will be given given clear and manageble instructions for training your dog along with valuable one-on-one instruction. Further appointments are usually necessary to continue improvement.
